Lately I’ve been trying to stay away from eating sugar everyday and only sticking to fruit if I must give in. This has been especially hard for me because I am one of those people that needs something (dear God anything) sweet at some point throughout my day. Usually that something is chocolate or fruit on a really good day. But some days raw fruit just doesn’t cut it and you need to take it to the next level, Grapefruit Brûlée enter stage right.

Ripe grapefruit drizzled in honey with a whisper of cinnamon all perfectly caramelized in the oven,  who would have guessed something so simple could be so delicious? If your not a grapefruit person (I understand, I’ve been there) then swap it out with a blood orange instead.

As a wedding photographer this season is crazy busy for me so I haven’t found many moments to read but I have been rediscovering my love for this band and found a few minutes to enjoy this video.

Honeyed Grapefruit Brûlée

  • 1 large ripe grapefruit
  • 2 tsp of honey
  • cinnamon for sprinkling
  • sea salt

  1. Preheat the oven broiler.
  2. Cut the grapefruit in half then cut around the grapefruit and in-between the fruit and rind for every segment.
  3. Drizzle each half with a tsp of honey then sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon and a small pinch of sea salt.
  4. Broil in oven for 10-15 minutes or until the top of the grapefruit is slightly browned. Remember each oven is different so keep a close eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn.
  5. Enjoy warm.
